We like to think of this week’s show with Laura Dave as our ‘get ready for Summer’ episode, packed with books that beckon to be read as the temperature rises. Emily often returns to the work of French novelist Colette and I’m excited to devour photographer Sally Mann’s recently released memoir Hold Still on vacation.

One of the buzziest books of summer Eight Hundred Grapes has hit just about every ‘Best Books of Summer 2015’ list so it made sense to have the author, the delightful Laura Dave, on our pod. Here she talks to us about being a novelist in Los Angeles and adapting her own books for the screen, her experience shadowing winemakers, abandoning a manuscript after 18 months, and more. We hope you enjoy the conversation as much as we did.
